Retro Bowl puts you in a dual position: both as a coach and as the person directly commanding the offensive plays on the field. Your main mission is to lead your team through the season, claim victories, and ultimately become the Retro Bowl champion.
Each match is divided into 4 quarters. You have 4 "downs" to move the ball past the first down marker, maintaining your offensive momentum. Each quarter gives you 2-3 timeouts depending on its length, allowing players to pause and adjust strategies. Before the "hike" (the start of a play), you can call a timeout or an "audible" to change tactics if the situation looks unfavorable.

Weather conditions such as rain, snow, and wind directly affect the match. They reduce player speed, make passing more difficult, and increase the risk of fumbles (dropping the ball). These elements make every game unpredictable and more intense.
